South Africa's Western Cape is ripe with great coastal drives, particularly between Cape Point and Betty's Bay. This stretch of the R44 is a good example. Winding along a particularly scenic stretch of False Bay between Betty's Bay and Gordon's Bay, it's one of our favorite coastal drives anywhere and one we've done countless times. On this occasion, we made a long day trip loop starting / ending in Stellenbosch with winery stops in Stellenbosch and Franschhoek as well as a coastal walk by the African penguin colony at Betty's Bay.
